A Name Before the Call: The Journey of Father Abraham Jackson
Long before a man understands his purpose, destiny often whispers through the smallest details of life. For Father Abraham Jackson, founder of AJ Ministries, that whisper began with a name he once rejected.
Born on February 25, 1975, Abraham Jackson entered the world with a name that felt foreign to him. The name Abraham sounded ancient, unfamiliar, and uncomfortable. As a young boy growing up in his village, he struggled to identify with it.
Yet the elderly women in the community would often call him affectionately, saying “Ta Abraham,” meaning “Father Abraham.” What sounded like a simple village nickname carried a prophetic weight he did not yet understand.
Determined to distance himself from the name, he made a quiet decision during his primary school years. He dropped Abraham entirely and chose to go by Jackson, a name he felt was modern, easier, and more fitting for the life he imagined.
Even during his water baptism at Baptist Church Mbabi-Wat, when asked to state his name before the congregation, he answered confidently: “Jackson.” The women behind him murmured in disagreement, but he stood firm.
For many years, the name Abraham disappeared from his identity.
But heaven had not forgotten it.
The Unexpected Call
In January 2013, while returning from a business trip in Dubai, an unexpected situation interrupted his journey home to Cameroon. His connecting Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Yaoundé was missed, and the airline arranged accommodation for stranded passengers at Panari Hotel in Kenya.
While other travelers enjoyed the unplanned stopover, Jackson was on a different spiritual path.
At the time, he was participating in a 40-day fast organized by the church he attended, Omega Fire Ministry. Instead of sightseeing or resting, he remained in his room fasting, praying, meditating, and watching Christian television.
Then something unusual happened.
Around 1:30 PM, while watching a Christian broadcast where several ministers, including Pastor Benny Hinn, were releasing prophetic declarations for the year 2013, a voice suddenly called out a name loudly.
Not Jackson.
But “ABRAHAM.”
Startled, he rushed out of his hotel room, searching the hallway to see who had called him. No one was there.
And then realization struck.
No one in that place knew him by that name. In fact, no one there knew him at all.
It was at that moment he sensed something deeper.
The name he had abandoned had not abandoned him.
That encounter marked the beginning of what he later described as a spiritual awakening.
The Cross on the Forehead
Years later, in 2015, his season of preparation intensified.
He completed theological studies through Rhema Correspondence Bible School of Kenneth Hagin Ministries in Tulsa, USA. The training strengthened his doctrinal foundation, but spiritual encounters continued to shape his calling.
In December 2016, he traveled to South Africa to attend a prophetic school led by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri at Sparkling Waters Hotel.
During a private meeting, the prophet asked him a direct question.
“Do you think you are an evangelist?”
Jackson answered confidently, “Yes.”
For several years he had served faithfully as Evangelist Jackson under Apostle John Chi of The Ark of God’s Covenant Ministry in Cameroon.
But the prophet looked again and said something that shifted his identity.
“I see the heavens open,” he declared.
“A cross comes down and rests on your forehead, and on it is written Apostolic.”
Then he spoke words that would remain etched in Jackson’s memory:
“You are an apostle.”
He prophesied that signs, wonders, and miracles would accompany his ministry and prayed for an acceleration of the calling.
The Wilderness Before the Voice
Not long after, another encounter deepened the weight of the calling.
While on a work mission in Bafoussam, Cameroon, Jackson heard a voice telling him to look up. As he lifted his head, he saw a vision of multitudes gathered while a horn was being blown.
Then the voice spoke:
“These are the people I have gathered for you, but you have refused the calling. I will incapacitate you.”
Terrified, he responded quickly, explaining that he was already serving God under a man of God.
But the reply was firm:
“I did not call you to serve Me under a man. I called you to serve Me.”
That moment marked a turning point. What he initially thought was a threat was actually a divine separation, guiding him toward the assignment prepared for him.
The Birth of AJ House of Prayer
In 2017, obedience began to take visible form.
What started as a small prayer gathering in a sitting room behind his house gradually grew. Soon the space could no longer contain the people who came seeking prayer and spiritual encouragement.
He converted his garage into a prayer sanctuary, shutting down two car parking spaces and dedicating the area as an altar of prayer.
This humble beginning became known as AJ House of Prayer.
People came.
Lives were touched.
The sick were prayed for.
The oppressed found deliverance.
What began as a prayer cell became a spiritual training ground, where Father Abraham learned to pastor, teach, and shepherd people under divine guidance.
Confirmation Through Ministry
During the same year, an invitation came to minister at a crusade in Bamessing near Bamenda, organized by Apostle N. Emmanuel of ESMI.
There, something extraordinary happened.
According to witnesses, people experienced healing, deliverance, and spiritual transformation.
For Father Abraham, it was confirmation that the calling he had wrestled with in private was now manifesting in public.
Training, Encounters, and Divine Direction
Later in November 2017, he traveled to Abuja, Nigeria, after seeing an announcement for a prophetic training organized by Prophet Joshua Iginla of Champions Royal Assembly.
During the Sunday service on November 19, 2017, the prophet called him out by prophecy, identifying him as Jackson from Yaoundé and declaring that although he loved business, God was calling him into an end-time apostolic ministry.
In a private meeting afterward, the prophet advised him that his ministry would resemble that of Prophet T.B. Joshua, emphasizing that he should build the work from the foundation and raise leaders within the vision rather than recruit established pastors.
The Promise Fulfilled
Between 2018 and 2019, Father Abraham continued intense spiritual preparation.
At one point, he was instructed to spend four days alone on a prayer mountain, deep in the bush with only a kerosene lamp.
On the fourth night, he dreamed that Prophet T.B. Joshua appeared to him, standing at a distance and smiling.
The prophet called him closer and handed him a forest-green military cap before disappearing.
To him, the encounter symbolized authority, commissioning, and spiritual empowerment.
The Launch of AJ Ministries
From 2018 to 2019, he also attended Champions Royal Assembly Bible College, completing a two-year executive leadership training.
Meanwhile, the prayer cell in Cameroon continued growing steadily.
Finally, on January 26, 2020, the work reached a historic milestone.
After completing the church facility and preparing the worship space, AJ Ministries (AJM) was officially launched.
What began with a rejected name, a hotel room encounter, and years of hidden preparation had finally emerged into public ministry.
A Prepared Calling
The journey of Father Abraham Jackson is not one of sudden rise but of gradual preparation.
From the wilderness of prayer to the building of a ministry, his story reflects a pattern often seen in spiritual leadership:
Silence before the voice.
Preparation before the platform.
Obedience before the manifestation.
Today, AJ Ministries continues to grow as a house of prayer, faith, and spiritual transformation.
And the name once rejected has become the name through which many now know him:
Father Abraham.
