In a candid Instagram reel published on July 23, 2025, social critic and influencer Scott Iguma finally laid out the full sequence of events that led to his arrest and remand at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi. The reel, titled “Scott Iguma finally explains the whole story behind how he was arrested and remanded in the prison by PWAN real estate company,” was shared on his official page, @scott_iguma.
Iguma began by revisiting his May 27 posts on the same platform, where he publicly accused PWAN Group of issuing “receipts instead of land” to unsuspecting investors and warned supporters that “if anything happens to me…hold PWAN responsible.” These videos—viewed by over a million followers—allegedly prompted PWAN’s founder to approach the police, according to Iguma’s account. He emphasized that he stood by his claims but denied any intention to defame.
He then described the morning of July 16, when officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, arrived at his residence and placed him under arrest. “They came with a warrant,” Iguma recalled, “but I wasn’t told which charges I was facing until I got to court.” On July 17, he was arraigned before Justice Friday Ogazi on a 10‑count charge of criminal defamation and cyberstalking. Pleading not guilty, he was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.
During his days in detention, Iguma said he endured difficult conditions but remained hopeful. In the reel, he thanked fellow activists, entertainers, and his online community—naming Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, and Stanley Ontop—for rallying in his support. He noted that widespread social media outrage helped fast‑track his bail application, which was granted on July 21 by the Lagos State High Court.
Addressing accusations that he fabricated the story for attention, Iguma challenged PWAN Group to pursue a dialogue rather than legal action. “I’m not here to destroy anybody,” he said. “I want transparency in real estate transactions.” He concluded the reel by reaffirming his commitment to holding powerful entities accountable, promising to continue his advocacy once fully free.
